Who Are We?

Ulpan Achva is an ulpan to study the Hebrew language that has been active for about 20 years.

.Adress: Rishon LeZion, avney hchoshen 2 Street

The ulpan’s student body includes new immigrants, tourists, and veteran immigrants.

In order for new immigrants to be able to integrate into Israeli society, Ulpan Achva aims to provide the framework to study the Hebrew language and Israeli culture. The ulpan does not only intend to provide language skills but also cultural and social understanding.

In the ulpan’s curriculum, besides learning the language, the students learn history of the Israeli nation, tradition, geography and Zionism. In addition there are trips to get to know the country and events related to the Israeli holidays.

The ulpan acts on behalf of the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Ministry of Absorption and the city of Rishon LeZion.

There are about 500 hours of study in the course.

Upon completion of the studies, the students take an external test given by the Ministry of Education and receive a diploma.

Ulpan Achva is one of three upgraded ulpans in the country.

Continuing the tradition of the Chaviv School (the first Hebrew School in the country, established in the 19th century), the contemporary upgraded ulpan in Rishon Lezion stands at the forefront of the revival of the Hebrew language and the imparting of the language to new immigrants.

The upgraded ulpan integrates computers into the language studies and takes into account differences between learners and learning styles.
